The Queen of Lantern Fruits is a demi-avatar in The Fade. She is the demi-avatar of enchantment, fertility, and death-from life, and walks the forest with her staff with its hanging pumpkin-like lantern. She wears a mask of the lantern fruit as well, keeping a traveling court of will-o-wisps and other creatures of The Fade. Few have seen her, but all fear her power and hope for her gifts. Those who live near The Fade places candles in carved lantern fruits near graves in hopes of keeping the dead actually dead. The only one who does not give her deference is Daucas Karoton, rumored to be her ex-lover.
